Join our free monthly training sessions to learn more about growing food in harmony with nature. During this session, we will look at which plants grow well together. Companion planting is about planting things together which provide each other with mutual benefits. You will learn about common plant pairings to deter pests, attract pollinators and provide nutrients, and have the chance to take part in plenty of practical activities.

Make Your Own Natural Fertiliser

Join us at the Community Growing Project on Monday 10th June as we celebrate Great Big Green Week! Make and take home your own natural fertiliser and pest repellent! During this session, we will be looking at how to swap chemicals for natural alternatives in the garden. Find out how to make a nutritious fertiliser out of nettles, how to re-purpose your coffee grounds to feed your plants and how to deter pests using a few common store cupboard ingredients. Families are welcome at this activity.

Summer talks: Earthworms and How to Help Them

At this free talk in June, we will welcome James Skillicorn for an informative and humorous discussion on earthworms. James will demonstrate how to set up and look after a wormery, and demonstrate how worms can turn household food waste into fabulous compost. He will talk about the environmental importance of earthworms and what we can do to help them. There will be a chance to get involved in some hands-on activities, and plenty of time for questions. Families are welcome.
