Nemone manages the multi award-winning Core Landscapes meanwhile community garden and plant nursery now based in Hackney. Core Landscapes showcases what can be done with meanwhile sites in the city to promote positive mental health for all and highlights the need for, and impact of, active green spaces within the context of urban regeneration and mental health. Its impact feeds into dialogue with local authorities, developers and planners to think creatively about protecting access to green spaces for mental wellbeing within the urban environment. Core Landscapes combines different pathways of volunteer engagement and adapts as it develops and Nemone will draw on first hand experience of building a project around the people who help to grow it.

Trainer : Nemone Mercer

Nemone has been a gardener for over 40 years and is from a visual arts background. In 2009 she set up and ran a community garden project for South Harringay Primary School for 8 years working with adult volunteers and young children. She then worked for the Federation of City Farms and Gardens (Now Social Farms and Gardens) supporting and promoting community gardens and city farms before moving to Core Arts in where she continues to run and develop Core Landscapes community gardening projects. Nemone has been a trainer for the RHS, Capital Growth and the Recovery College. She began her journey into community gardening as a volunteer at St Mary's Secret Gardenand the Garden Classroom at King Henry's Walk garden.
