Access to funding
We will be holding funding rounds at various stages of the campaign, up to the end of 2012.
A Capital Growth starter pack for your school
This includes a Garden Organic for schools catalogue, a garden planner calendar, a Capital Growth certificate and outdoor plaque for your patch which indicates your Capital Growth plot number, a packet of seeds from Duchy Original and the London Seed Company, information on growing organic food and print outs and information from organisations such as RHS and Garden Organic who can give ongoing growing and curriculum advice.
A London-wide support network
Invites to Capital Growth network meetings, offering you the chance to meet people running similar projects elsewhere in the capital and benefit from face-to-face expert advice.
Access to the Capital Growth online forum, enabling you to communicate with other projects easily, sharing good practice and asking questions, advertise your project to a wider audience, and receive up-to-date information from the Capital Growth team.
Access to low cost training
In March 2010, Capital Growth will be launching low cost training courses in food growing in the Regents Park allotment. We will be offering subsidised courses specially tailored for schools growing projects.
Access to Equipment
Capital Growth receives regular information about low cost or free equipment that is on offer. We send out regular emails to all the spaces, as soon as we can, so that they can take advantage if need be.
Capital Growth is working to develop relationships with companies so that spaces can benefit from reduced prices. As a result we have teamed up with the following organisations:
Recognition
Receiving support from Capital Growth means that each space is recognised as receiving expert advice. This helps greatly when expressed as part of a funding bid and can also mean that your space benefits from promotional opportunities that might not otherwise be on offer.
Access to volunteers
If you are looking for more hands-on help with your community food growing project, you can use Capital Growth to put out a plea for volunteers.
Access to lots of expertise
The Capital Growth project is run by London Food Link, part of Sustain, the alliance for better food and farming. Both London Food Link and Sustain have many years experience of helping its members achieve their goals. Click here for a rundown of the success of London Food Link and Sustain.
